Calibrations are carried out at the station 3 or 4 times a month. Depending on the current capacity, between 6 and 9 standard mixtures (including 3 primary standards) are used. A single standard is dosed for 4 hours.
The data obtained by the CRDS analyser are averaged on an hourly basis.
[Hourly] We consider all data from every hour (from hh:00 to hh:59) and calculate the arithmetic mean value. [Daily] [Monthly] |
|
Our flagging system is used for hourly averages and in detail it looks like this: The first column: . - correct data x - not sure because for some reasons * - incorrect data Second column: R - regional value L - local value Third column: The number stands for the reason that we classified the concentration of CO2 or CH4 in a given moment as a local value. Detailed data selection procedure you will find in: Necki, J.M., Schmidt, M., Rozanski, K., Zimnoch, M., Korus, A., Lasa, J., Graul, R. and Levin, I. Operational/Reporting
The nearest town, Zakopane (27 000 inhabitants), is located approximately 1 km below, 7 km north of Kasprowy Wierch. This is a small tourist town. During winter period, from November to March, relatively large amounts of wood and fossil fuels are combusted in the Zakopane area. In the direct neighborhood of the observatory there is a cable car station located about 40 m below the observatory. Additionally during wintertime, diesel-operated snowcats are used in near-by valleys to maintain proper conditions for skiing. |
