 The calibration measurements are realised by means of two working standard referred to the NOAA04 scale . The two working standard are systematically analysed every six hours.
CMDL X83 up to 2007. Since 2008 NOAA04 Scale. Convertion factor is: 1.0124. So, CMDL X83 * 1.0124 = NOAA04.
In 2009, all CMDL X83 scale data have been expressed in NOAA04 scale.

 Scientific Aim : To provide data for research and study of the long term trends.
Sampling Environment : The station of the Plateau Rosa is one of the highest European stations dedicated to the atmospheric monitoring. It is located near the Matterhorn, over the Western Italian Alps. Due to its high altitude and position, i.e. in the free atmosphere upon a large snow-clad located over a bare mountain plateau and far from urban and polluted zones, it is suitable for the background measurements of greenhouse gases.

The measurement programme of the CH4 has been run by CESI RICERCA since February 1991 (at beginning by means of biweekly samplings until December 2002 and then by means of continuous measurements since January 2002). The measurements have been stopped from May 2006 to October 2007. Since 2008 the minimum temporal resolution for the mean values is based on hourly averages.

The PRS CH4 dataset is composed by two kind of data: the sampling event (by flask) and continuous measurements. The measurements of the CH4 have been realized by an automatic GC-FID system. The working range is 0-5,000 ppbv. The uncertainty of the measurement is about 7 ppbv.
