 Calibration is done with an certified 226Ra standard, delivered from Metrological Institute in Prague.

222Rn is produced by the radioactive decay of 226Ra in the soil. It is a noble gas, produed in the decay line of the U-Ra decay. 222Rn evaporates out of the soil.
For that 222Rn is a good tracer if air masses are influenced by atmospheric boundary layer or not. The lifetime of 222Rn is 3.8 days.
