Carbon dioxide (CO2) in ambient air and standard tank samples is detected using a non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) analyzer. The measurement of CO2 in air is made relative to standards whose CO2 mole fraction is determined with high precision and accuracy. Because detector response is non-linear in the range of atmospheric levels, ambient samples are bracketed during analysis by a set of reference standards used to calibrate detector response. | |||||||
[Hourly] Hourly data are an average of the 44 minutes of CO2 data available each hour. [Daily] [Monthly] The monthly mean baseline CO2 (ppm) is determined from a smooth curve fit to the hourly baseline data using Thoning et al. 1989 curve fitting. ND is the number of baseline hours for the month. This is the number of points (N) used in the smooth curve fit for each month. |
|||||||
From 23 April 2004, a baseline flag has also been determined for each hour, with the flag values of: 0=baseline, 1=non-baseline, 9=baseline not determined. Data are considered baseline when the wind direction is between 190 and 280 degrees, windspeed > 5 m/s, CO2 stability < 0.3 ppm for at least 5 hours, and any outliers remaining are iteratively filtered using Thoning et al. 1989 curve fitting technique. |
