On board the R/V Mirai, 4 kinds of CO2 standard gases, which are traceable to the WMO XCO2 2007 scale, were measured at an interval of 4-6 hours. Concentrations of CO2 in the atmosphere were computed with calibration curves (quadratic or linear function) based on the measurements of the standard gases. The calibration curves were constructed for each air sample by temporally interpolating measurements of standard gases obtained before and after measurements of air samples. | |
In order to obtain background concentrations of CO2 (xCO2a in ppm) in the atmosphere, raw data were examined by plotting the xCO2a as a function of sequential day, longitude/latitude, and wind direction.
