 All the hydrographic data and CTD data of 1997 to 2001 fiscal year have been subjected to well quality control. This work was carried out by Data Quality Control Working Group (Leader:H.Tsubota) in WEST-COSMIC Technical Committee.

Unit for each item is as follows;
TIC : µmole/kg (25°C)
Total alkalinity (ALK) : µmole/kg
Temperature(ST) : degree
Salinity(SS) : psu
Sampling depth (WP) : 10^4 Pa (db)

 0 represents no data or possible poor quality data, and 1 represent normal data.
 Temporarily suspended
 Total carbonate content was measured on board following the phosphoric acid-helium purging method using a coulometer system, ULC Model 5012.

This project aimed at conducting researches on the absorption of carbon dioxide to the ocean and behavior and cycle of the carbon in the ocean, and at a development of technological approach of carbon dioxide sequestration into the intermediate layer of 1,000 - 2,000 m depth.

The depth of the original data is reported in pressure depth. The density of pressure depth is converted into "m" for uniformity simply from "44 Unesco Technical Papers in Marine Science (1983)".
