Standard gases used: Mixed gas of carbon dioxide and purified natural air Calibration: Measuring a set of 4 or 5 standard gases with different concentrations, every 1 or 2 hour. A quadratic fitting curve is determined from the result of calibration. The mole fraction of carbon dioxide is determined using the fitting curve. |
|
The mole fraction is determined using the quadratic equation based on the calibration. Erroneous data are identified by means of visual inspection and are reported with flag 3. |

The measurements for air and surface sea water are carried out. The height of intake for air sample is about 9 meters above sea surface. The depth of the intake for sea water sample is about 4 meters below sea surface. The tubing for air sample is made of fluorinated ethylene - perfluoroalkoxyethylene copolymer (PFA). The inner diameter, outer diameter of the tubing are 19/64 inches and 3/8 inches, respectively. The length of the tubing is approximately 40 meters. The sea water is introduced into the shower head type equilibrator. Both introduced ambient air and equilibrated air are dried using electronic cooling unit, Perma Pure dryer and chemical desiccant (Mg(ClO4)2). | |
