The outdoor air was drawn at 2.5 m above the ground surface into a gas sampling loop (2 ml).

| A 95% Ar - 5% CH4 mixture was used as the carrier gas. The sample size was 2 ml. Dinitrogen oxide was separated on a 6 ft Porapak QS column at 35 ºC. A reference gas and a sample air were measured in series. |
