Introduction

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) launched the Global Atmosphere Watch (GAW) programme in 1989, an effort to provide systematic and reliable observations of greenhouse (CO2, CH4, CFCs, N2O, etc.) and related (e.g. CO, NOx, SO2, etc.) gases in the atmosphere.
In the framework of the GAW programme, the World Data Centre for Greenhouse Gases (WDCGG) was established in the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) in October 1990 to make systematic collection, archiving and distribution of data on the concentrations of greenhouse and related gases in the atmosphere and the ocean.

  The WDCGG is engaged in:
. preparation and distribution of data reporting guidance materials,
. collection of data on the concentrations of gases from all participating countries,
. management of databases and periodical publication of data in printed matters and on
electro-magnetic media, and exchange of information with the WMO Secretariat, research       organizations, interested research groups and individuals, and other data centres.

This issue of WMO WDCGG CD-ROM contains hourly, daily, monthly, and event observational data from about 300 stations which the WDCGG received by November 2006.

The WDCGG is operated by the Japan Meteorological Agency
